Sharing a picture of himself with Nicholas Hoult, James wrote, "Yes, finally I can answer, @nicholashoult is Lex Luthor in #SupermanLegacy and I couldn’t be happier. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate and discuss how we can create a Lex that will be different from anything you’ve seen before and will never forget. 'But, James, we heard this weeks ago, why didn’t you tell us it was true?' Because, although we were discussing it, it wasn’t final until a couple days ago and I don’t want to tell you all something that isn’t certain. Anyway, here’s to Lex (and Nicholas!), one of my very favorite characters in the DCU." View this post on Instagram
In the picture, James Gunn and Nicholas Hoult were seen posing together with big smiles. Nicholas was wearing a black T-shirt under a black denim jacket and a cap. In contrast, James was dressed in a brown T-shirt and a matching jacket, along with a pair of glasses.
In addition to David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, Superman: Legacy features Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, and Rachel Brosnahan in significant roles. The movie will focus on Clark Kent aka Superman during his early years as a journalist at the Daily Planet and as Metropolis' emerging superhero. Superman: Legacy is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.
