The announcement of James Gunn's upcoming film Superman: Legacy, with David Corenswet playing the titular superhero, has caused a stir among DC fans. However, there has been much speculation about who will play the villainous Lex Luthor. Excitingly, James has now revealed that Nicholas Hoult, known for his role in The Great, will bring the character of Lex Luthor to life. James made the announcement in an Instagram post.
Sharing a picture of himself with Nicholas Hoult, James wrote, "Yes, finally I can answer, @nicholashoult is Lex Luthor in #SupermanLegacy and I couldn’t be happier. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate and discuss how we can create a Lex that will be different from anything you’ve seen before and will never forget. 'But, James, we heard this weeks ago, why didn’t you tell us it was true?' Because, although we were discussing it, it wasn’t final until a couple days ago and I don’t want to tell you all something that isn’t certain. In addition to David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult, Superman: Legacy features Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Isabela Merced, and Rachel Brosnahan in significant roles. The movie will focus on Clark Kent aka Superman during his early years as a journalist at the Daily Planet and as Metropolis' emerging superhero. Superman: Legacy is scheduled to release on July 11, 2025.
